Shtick NYC
Lower East Side, Manhattan
Founded by fifth-generation Jewish New Yorker Jacqueline Lobel, Shtick is a Jewish hospitality concept built around food, storytelling, big communal tables and the traditions of Jewish New York. Lobel spent a decade producing food and travel documentaries before turning the idea into a series of pop-ups and, now, a permanent Lower East Side hospitality concept.
THE EXPERIENCE: Shabbat dinners, Jewish holiday dinners, dinner parties, collaborations, pop-ups and other immersive culinary events. Events are open to everyone, and the food and customs of Jewish New York are central to the experience.
WHY IT'S SPECIAL: This isn't simply dinner at a Jewish restaurant. The idea is Jewish hospitality as the experience, bringing people together around a communal table and using food as a way into Jewish culture.
GOOD TO KNOW: Shtick has moved beyond its original roaming pop-ups and signed a lease for a permanent home in the Lower East Side, with weekly Shabbat dinners and additional programming planned.
