About & Why

Italian and a native New Yorker.

This is a curated collection of Jewish and Israeli restaurants, cafés, bakeries, food tours, culinary experiences, and food events throughout New York City.

The idea for Jewish Food NYC began after I kept seeing headlines about Jewish and Israeli restaurants, bakeries and cafés around New York being targeted, harassed or protested simply because of who they were or what they represented. Some struggled. Some changed the way they operated. Some closed.

I found myself thinking: What can I actually do?

I can show up. I can support them. I can tell other people about them. And I can create a place that celebrates not only the businesses that have been targeted, but the incredible breadth of Jewish food and Jewish food culture throughout New York City.

New York City would not be New York without its Jewish community. For generations, Jewish New Yorkers have shaped the city's neighborhoods, businesses, culture, and culinary traditions. This is my small way of celebrating and supporting a community that has given so much to the city we all love.

Whether you call New York home or you're visiting from somewhere else, I hope you discover somewhere new, meet someone interesting, and leave a little fuller than when you arrived.

Support them. Thank them. Make new friends.

My favorite New York breakfast: Toasted poppy seed bagel with plain cream cheese, a cappuccino, and fresh fruit.

Note:To the best of my ability, I’ve checked that the places and businesses featured here are current, and I’ve personally visited many of them. But New York changes quickly. Businesses close, move, change hours and sometimes change how they take orders. Always check directly before making a special trip.
